BenalmadenaThere is more to Benalmadena's sprawling area than first
meets the eye. The municipality is divided into three distinct
parts, Benalmadena Pueblo, Benalmadena Costa and Arroyo de
la Miel. It is where the Hollywood Actor Antonio Banderas
comes from and he and Melanie Griffiths often visit Benalmadena's
attractive marina. Benalmadena CostaThe World Class Marina is probably the most spectacular
and proudest asset of Benalmadena, with mooring space for
approximately 1,000 boats of all lengths, with rumours of
it doubling in size. The marina boasts some particularly attractive
Moorish style architecture, has man-made islands housing some
very exclusive apartments and has a special alluring ambience.
Here, is an ideal place for families during the day and in
the evening provides a perfect place to be pampered yacht
side sipping a drink in one of the many open-air restaurants
and bars. All of the above resulted in it previously being
awarded the best marina in the World. Similar to Puerto
Banus, the setting is close to ideal with its impressive
mountain backdrop and ocean views. Benalmadena PuebloThe original heart of Benalmadena remains as a typical white
Andalucian Village in the foothills of the mountains with
its charming narrow flower filled streets and fantastic views
of the coastline and mountains. Romans, Phoenicians and Moors
have all inhabited in the past and have left their mark on
the area, in particular having a noticeable effect on its
architecture.
Arroyo de la MielMaking up the third part of Benalmadena, Arroyo de la Miel
is an extremely lively residential and commercial town offering
numerous shops and restaurants. It also hosts a large Friday
market where you can while away the hours browsing through
an extensive array of jewellery, clothes, shoes and household
items.
