Manilva

One of the most charming aspects of Manilva is that, despite its prime location on the coast, there is a refreshing lack of high-rise construction. Therefore, although tourists are just starting to discover the village (with good reason) it remains intrinsically Spanish.

The town has a fascinating history, which dates back to Roman times, and, still today, there are some remarkably well-preserved roman sulphur baths.

One of the most interesting historical monuments here, aside from the Roman Baths, is the Church of Santa Ana, which dates back to the lat 17th Century. Shortly thereafter, the Castle of Duquesa was built which was completed in the 18th Century. Manilva boasts several wines unique to the area, both dry and sweet. There are also well known fish restaurants and chiringuitos here that are renowned for their excellent seafood and fish dishes. Manilva is an intriguing, interesting village, which is well worth a visit and has much to offer and is situated close to Casares and the increasingly popular Puerto Duquesa.
